I'll be on team 5/3/1. I have been doing it over a year. One vote for  team 5/3/1 to do the  "I'm not doing jack shit" assistance work template. ;)
And for my teammates, here's the blog post All About the Bench Press http://www.jimwendler.com/2012/01/all-about-the-bench-press/

I''m currently doing 5/3/1 so I'd be down with doing either the 5/3/1 or Kiefer's.

Would anybody else be interested in doing the same thing for squats?

We could Kiefer (if he wants to design a program) versus:

1) Smolov
2) Strict Linear
3) The 20RM Program
4) The John Broz protocol (where you essentially max your backsquat EVERY day, or five days per week in the case of non-professional lifters)

I don't know what any of those are, but my squat sucks and I would like to improve it so I'm interested.

Just an FYI, Kiefer mentioned on his facebook that the challenge will only be open to people currently using CBL'ing

The last thing my fat-ass needs is to back-load so I'm gonna have to bow-out of this one. Thanks though!

Unless of course they decide to include CN'ers. Then I'm all over that ish

I think it might be a good idea to take it one step at a time. Having a hard enough time trying to get enough(40) people for this.

I don't know which statistical analysis Kiefer would do, but we could estimate the the mean difference between bench press increase of the two programs within .573 standard deviations with a sample size of 10 with 95% confidence.  With 20 it would be within .386 standard deviations.

Since this experiment will probably vary a large amount we probably will need 20 people on each side to get an accurate estimate.  For most experiments, 10 would be enough, but I'm guessing that won't be enough, unless we control for training years, famililiarity with 5/3/1, familiarity with the bench press, and starting bench press.  There are other factors, but I would think these would be the big ones.

I agree with ibob--There's obviously no way to conclude "this program is better" by doing but I still think it's a valuable thing to do as long as one doesn't overstate the conclusions.  Very interested to see how Kiefer handles the data.

I will participate in either as needed.  This sounds like fun.

ibobland08 - yes you are correct, if we are talking statically it is going to be very tough to "prove" a test like this. I don't think Kiefer is looking to have a full on conclusion I think he is doing this as an observational comparison. If not then we would need a static diet for each person/amount of sleep/lbs with in a small variance/etc

There are so many variables and it would be impossible to make it so we had exactly similar people on both sides of this "study". As well like you said, there isn't a very large number of participation, and of course we are going to have outliers.  I think we are looking at a fun contest, two teams, good food, heavy lifting, and results.

This contest will give you results no matter what side you are on, if anything we should be joining together trying to convince Naomi and Kiefer the side that has best results should get a prize.

I am up for either, but I have been doing Shockwave since January and would like to continue on this protocol.
