CN THE CURE FOR TYPE II DIABETES?

Hey DH members, I put my father on the CN system 5 months ago. He has lost weight weekly…… a pound or two. He was also diagnosed with diabetes over six years ago; he has tried everything from low calorie to Atkins low carb. He just recently went in to see his doctor on a routine visit, not only was the doctor impressed with the weight loss, the doctor was also impressed with the diabetes. He actually stated “there was no sign of diabetes in the blood” and the triglycerides were excellent. My father has decided to take a few weeks off at the six month mark and then recapture control on CN system until he hits his goal weight. But he has told me the diet is so simple and laid-back that he could easily turn it into a lifestyle.  Well this is a good synopsis for a short stint on the CN system, so I would recommend the book and diet to any diabetic needing assistance with their lifestyle.

Any other diabetics who have similar success?

While I haven't lost any weight, all of my numbers have remained good throughout  the diet. I'm drug free for the first time in five years so I'm pretty happy.

Cool! But of course we can't say any diet is a cure for diabetes.  Because of course we all know that diabetes is a disease that certain people (like over 50% of America) are doomed by genetics to get and there's nothing anyone can do about it.  :)

I have many patients doing CNS or a modified version of it. Most of them are either insulin resistant, pre-diabetic or diabetic. It works, period

I have one patient that has gone for postprandial sugars over 200 to now not having any sugars over 150, AND has cut her insulin use by 60%

Even with the full-on Carb Nite gorging?  His diabetes wasn't affected by the rush of carbs?  I would think the insulin spiking would send him into diabetic shock.

That is amazing!

The reason I post this... I am always afraid that I am going diabetic ea. carb nite... b/c it runs in my family.  Plus, my dad suffers type 2... and he has a lot of weight to lose.  This might be good for him to read!

For Dr Patel (or anyone),

Friend is type II, has been for approx 10 years. Is currently on insulin for an ear issue she's had for the past year (no idea, just passing along what I've been told)? Her doc has advised against a keto diet and recommended "Potatoes not Prozac". Trying to convince her to give Carb Nite (or at least a keto diet) a try, could use some ideas/ammunition.

Also: her docs have given her the "bad genetics" label, which is infuriating to me.

I posted this in another thread but it's worth saying again. My 80 year old Grandmother is insulin dependent and has been on CNS for three months. She has lost about 20 pounds, cut her insulin dosage by 75% and her other medication by half. It's been really amazing.

One of the pieces of research that let Keifer to create CBL was resistance training for diabetics.
Because of the trans-location of tGLUT allows them to handle carbs because insulin isn't needed post resistance training.

She should try to negotiate a "let's try it for 30 days and see what happens" approach with her doctor.  Failing that, she should find a new doctor.  Trying to run a new diet in someone on insulin is dangerous wo some cooperation from your MD.

Your friend needs to find a new doctor if the doc will not work with him/her.

I just saw a patient in follow up, DM II, A1C was 8.3 in June, FBG 150's to 180's. She has been on CNS for 5 weeks, down 11 lbs, FBG now in the 80's, no PP BG over 120. BP and pulse both better
